In 2022, the province's ecological and environmental quality will remain excellent and continue to be among the highest in the country.

Firstly, the quality of surface water environment remains excellent. The proportion of water quality in major watersheds of Class I to Class III is 98.7%, 1.4 percentage points higher than the previous year, the water quality of centralized domestic drinking water sources above the county level meets the standard, and the water quality of freshwater lakes and reservoirs of Class I to Class III accounts for 94.7% of the total number of lakes and reservoirs.

Secondly, the quality of urban environmental air quality is stable and excellent. 9 cities in the region have a stable and excellent proportion of good air days, PM2.5 concentration fell to 19 micrograms per cubic meter, the proportion of air quality standards in order of Nanping, Longyan, Fuzhou, Putian, Ningde, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Sanming, Zhangzhou. Fuzhou, Xiamen in the country's 168 key cities in the air quality ranking of the 5th, 9th.

Thirdly, the quality of seawater in near-shore waters is generally good. The ratio of good water quality is 85.8%, which is stable and improving.

Fourth, the quality of urban acoustic environment has been rising steadily. Regional environmental noise, road traffic noise has decreased.

Fifth, the quality of the radiation environment remains good. Ambient ionizing radiation levels are within the background rise and fall, and ambient electromagnetic radiation levels are lower than the national control limits.

Sixth, the ecological quality is basically stable. The ecological environment status index continues to maintain a good level, and continues to rank among the top in the country, and the province's forest coverage rate of 65.12% has remained the first in the country for 44 consecutive years.
